The disease begins with high fever, constant coughing, runny nose and red eyes. After that comes a blotchy rash that starts on the face and moves downwards. Complications can include pneumonia, encephalitis and, in severe cases, permanent brain damage or death.
Symptoms are mild fever, a fine pink rash and enlarged lymph nodes. Infection during the first trimester of pregnancy can result in congenital rubella syndrome, which can cause serious birth defects in the baby
In the UK, two licensed MMR vaccines are used in private clinics – Priorix and M-M-RaxPro. Both provide the same protection against all three diseases.

That depends on your vaccination history. If you can document that you’ve had two previous MMR shots, you probably don’t need another. If you have had one dose or no previous vaccination your pharmacist will advise you on the correct course of action at your appointment.
MMR is a live vaccine and is not recommended in pregnancy . If you plan to become pregnant, the vaccine should be given at least a month before you try to become pregnant. If you are pregnant and not vaccinated, talk to your midwife or GP.
Yes. Priorix and M-M-RaxPro are both licensed products and are the same products used in the NHS programme.
Yes. MMR vaccine is recommended for adults of any age who have not completed a two-dose series. Many adults may not have received the full two-dose schedule and would benefit from vaccination.
Live vaccines should be administered on the same day or at least 4 weeks apart. This is the case for yellow fever and oral typhoid (Vivotif). Your pharmacist will arrange these appropriately at your consultation.
No. MMR is a live vaccine and is contraindicated in patients who are immunosuppressed. This includes those on chemotherapy, high-dose steroids, or certain immunosuppressive medications. Speak to your specialist before booking, and your pharmacist will assess this at your consultation.
