Adults and children from age one can have this inactivated Hepatitis A vaccine. It contains traces of formaldehyde and neomycin, so tell us at booking about any known allergies.

The most common reactions are soreness, redness and mild swelling at the site of injection and these tend to settle within a day or two. It may cause mild headaches or tiredness. Serious reactions are uncommon.

That depends on the destination. There is still some risk from contaminated food and water even in resort environments. In high-risk countries (eg, India, Egypt, Morocco and Thailand), we recommend vaccination regardless of type of accommodation.
The Hepatitis A vaccine has no live virus, it is inactivated and is generally considered low risk in pregnancy. This decision should be made on an individual basis at your consultation depending on your individual travel destination and risk.
If you have had a confirmed case of hepatitis A infection, you are likely to have natural immunity. At your consultation, speak to your pharmacist. It is worth considering testing for prior immunity before vaccination.
