What is Hepatitis B?

Hepatitis B or Hep B is a viral infection that can lead to liver damage. Unlike hepatitis A, the hepatitis B virus is not generally transmitted via contaminated water but rather via bodily fluids such as blood or via contaminated needles. No symptoms are usually noticed in adults and the ailment resolves within a few months on its own but in children ailment can linger for years leading to severe liver damage.  Hepatitis B is not very prevalent in the UKwhen compared to many other regions of the world, yet certain populations are at very high risk including individuals from high-risk countries and those indulging in unprotected sex with multiple partners.
